Pirate Day Fun

More than 120 participants enjoyed Pirate Day as a part of the Marlborough District Libraries Summer Reading Programme. The crowd of buccaneers had a swashbuckling time at the Edwin Fox Maritime Museum in Picton. The focal point of the day was readings of the book Captain Carrrrrrla and her magnificent, magical leg by local author and illustrator Rina Pinker. Also onboard was the real-life Captain Carla to speak with the youthful pirates. The Edwin Fox team provided an array of pirate themed crafts, food and drink and pirate experiences.

The day was a joint effort involving Marlborough District Libraries, the Edwin Fox Maritime Museum, Marlborough Roads and the Marlborough Harbourmaster’s office.
